Get tutoring online
HelpingHands connects a student with an experienced helper over a live 10, 20, or 30-minute video call. When someone is stuck on one thing — a maths problem that won't click, a grammar rule, a science concept, a tricky passage of music — a helper explains it clearly, in the moment, without booking a weekly slot.
What a tutoring helper can do over video
Explain a concept a different way until it clicks, work through a specific problem step by step, check homework, and prepare for a test or oral exam. Common subjects: maths and algebra, French, Dutch and English, physics, chemistry and biology, and music theory or an instrument passage. If a student can show it on camera or share their screen, a helper can walk through it.
When online tutoring is the right call
When a student is stuck on one thing right now and a full weekly tutoring contract is overkill. A short focused session unblocks the specific problem, explains the idea behind it, and gets them moving again — the same evening, not next week.
What HelpingHands does and does not do
It does: give a student live, guided explanation so they understand the material and can do the next problem themselves. It does not: send a tutor to your home, do the homework for the student, or replace a full school curriculum or a long-term tutoring programme.
How pricing works
You book a session by length — 10, 20, or 30 minutes — and the price is shown before you confirm. A focused 30-minute session is often enough to get past one topic. No call-out fee, because nobody travels.
How to book a helper
Download HelpingHands, describe the subject and what the student is stuck on, and pick a helper from the tutoring category. You'll be connected on a video call where the student can share the exercise straight away.
Frequently asked questions
- Can a tutor really help over a video call?
- Yes — for anything that can be explained and worked through on screen. Helpers talk a student through the concept and the specific problem live, in real time.
- Does a tutor come to my house?
- No. HelpingHands is video-only. The whole session happens over a live video call; nobody visits your home.
- How long are the calls?
- Calls come in 10, 20, or 30-minute sessions. You choose the length when you book.
- Which subjects can I get help with?
- Maths, languages, sciences and music are the most common. If a student can show the problem on camera or share their screen, a helper can guide them.
