Get baking help over video

HelpingHands lets you speak with an experienced helper through a live 10, 20, or 30-minute video call. Hold your dough up to the camera, show the batter, or point at the loaf that came out flat — a helper watches and tells you exactly what went wrong and what to change, right then and there.

When baking help over video is useful

When a bake keeps failing and you can't work out why — bread that won't rise, a cake that sinks in the middle, cookies that spread flat, a bake that's dense and heavy, or pastry that turns tough. If you can show it or show what you're doing, a helper can usually spot the cause.

What you can show and ask on the call

This is where video really earns its place: hold up the dough so a helper can judge the consistency, show the batter's texture, tilt the camera into the oven. "Is this kneaded enough?" "Should this be this sticky?" "Why did this sink?" "Is my oven running too hot?" A helper reads what a recipe can't describe.

What HelpingHands does and does not do

It does: watch your dough or batter live, diagnose why a bake failed, and guide you through consistency, oven temperature, proving, and decorating. It does not: send a baker to your home or bake for you — a helper guides you while you do the baking.

How pricing works

You book a session by length — 10, 20, or 30 minutes — and see the price before you confirm. No call-out fee, because there is no call-out. You only pay for the time you need.

How to book a helper

Download HelpingHands, describe what you're baking or what went wrong, and pick a helper from the cooking category. You'll be connected on a video call and can show them the dough straight away.

Frequently asked questions

Can a helper tell why my bake failed over video?
Often, yes. By seeing your dough, batter, or finished bake on camera — and hearing your recipe and oven — a helper can usually spot the cause and tell you what to change next time.
Does HelpingHands send someone to my house?
No. HelpingHands is video-only. A helper guides you during a live video call; you keep your hands in the dough and do the baking yourself.
How long are the calls?
Calls come in 10, 20, or 30-minute sessions. You choose the length when you book.
Can I get help while I'm mid-bake?
Yes. Show the helper your dough or batter as you go and they'll tell you whether it looks right and what to adjust before it goes in the oven.
